What is a neuropsychologist?
Neuropsychologists complete PhD doctoral training in clinical psychology programs and specialize in brain-behavior relationships and cognitive health. Clinical neuropsychologists apply this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients across the lifespan who have developmental, neurological, medical, or psychiatric conditions.
When is a neuropsychological evaluation typically requested?
A neuropsychological evaluation is often requested when there is a concern for cognitive change or decline that may be noticed by an individual, their friends or family, or their healthcare provider. An evaluation can also serve as a cognitive baseline which can be used as an individualized comparison measure to assess future changes as you age.

For the day of testing, it is recommended (if possible) to get a good night's sleep, eat a hearty breakfast, and take your medications as normal (unless directed otherwise). If you wear hearing aids or glasses, please bring them to the appointment as well as any drinks or snacks you may like.
